Duties

The most important duty of a nanny is the child safety and meeting the child’s physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs; nannies typically undertake all tasks related to the children. They work with parents as a team to ensure everyone is happy and thriving. The responsibilities of a full-time nanny vary depending on each family needs, but often includes doing the children’s laundry, keeping the children’s rooms clean and organized, disinfecting the children’s toys and preparing nutritious meals and snacks. Nannies also typically transport the children to and from activities and plan age-appropriate social and educational activities and making simple, healthy meals and snacks for the children.

Schedule

Full-time nannies generally work between 40-60 hours per week. Schedule varies depending on the family.

Rates

Rates for full-time nannies varies depending on the nanny’s experience, duties, schedule, and the level of travel and flexibility required. Current rates for professional nannies are between $18-$30 per hour. In addition to their wages, most full-time nannies receive the following benefits: 2 weeks paid vacation, paid holidays/sick days, and a health insurance stipend.
